Nuffsaid.
Okay i havent listened to these boys yet but i’m vouching for them on the strength of a convo i had with Ill-Skillz’s Tonny Jinxx when i expressed surprise nay shock at the fact that Cape Town finally has a colourful bling looking group repping it and he seemed to approve of them.
This looks like definitely worth a listen so i might just go out and cop it later today. Tumi on the same song as Brickz. Wow! I remeber him telling me once how he’d never perform at the same show as Pitch Black Afro and since i personally, as im sure many of you do, consider Brickz to be from the same ilk, I guess Tumi has changed his perspective on things a little. I could be mistaken.

Sleepless in Seattle](http://maliq.bandcamp.com/album/sleepless-in-seattle-my-mind-on-cap-city-2) was on Seattle-based Jake One’s beats and one each from Vitamin D and Bean One. Cap City on My Mind which I present to you now is solely handled by the big homie Trompie and includes remixes of the Sleepless in Seattle half and also some cuts from Official Bootlegs Vol. 1 mostly done by Nyambz. The cipher is now complete and I trust yall should be ready for my next offering, the Ilmatic-inspired A Mic & A Dream anytime now. Just let me get done with this fasting first I got yall. O been meaning to say, a now very belated Ramadhaan kareem if you’re reading this on an empty stomach. I cant’ lose. Let’s go!
Ladies and germs, straight outta Durban, South Africa… King B and Ewok are Illuminating Shadows.
Shouts to the homie Ewok for hitting me on the hip and giving me the heads up about this project which I honestly didn’t see coming. You might wanna hit the jump to read his breakdown of how it all came about but also because the download link is right after that.
Remeber the Michael Jackson Tribute Beat Tape with Battlekat, Instro and them? Of course. Here’s the Louis joint with the usual suspects Battlekat and Thir[13]teen and others.
This was a good initiative for lack of a better word put together by some peeps in downtown Jozi marching from Ritual store to the Drill Hall in Johannesburg to commemorate the June 16 Soweto student uprising. Props to my man Flow for the dope photography.
Here it is. Oh all beats by Jake One except The Answer by Bean One and Gimme Gimme by Vitamin D. Special thanks to Ras for the studio time, Abdul for the mixing and Hakeem for the artwork. Chuuch!!!
This is actually suppose to be the final final final PNS cover (I hope), not the one on the latest Hype review section. Still don’t have the final tracklist though eish long story.
Honestly I never hearda this cat so I’m putting this up strictly on the strength of Wax Lyrical’s heavy involvement on the production. Them Press Play boys (Thir13teen, Wax Lyrical, Jabu) don’t play.
Available at Ritual, Cnr. Bree & bla blah blah comeon now if you don’t know it by now I doubt you’ll ever know. Sorry no I dont have a trackilst for you. Honestly I just put this up coz I remember my lil bro Killa M asking me if I knew this cat and I wasn’t sure mainly becoz you see there’s another level below the underground Jozi scene that I’m not shooled in. Anyway I remember seeing this CD cover at Ritual sometime ago so that’s how I know.
As you might have or might not have heard, one half of The Anvils, Nveigh, is preparing his solo debut for a mid year release. Wait a minute that’s anytime from next month ain’t it? Word from Roach is this might not be the final artwork though. Stay put!
Hold on I’m putting up another Nveigh post in a second.
Finally an African president that’s comfortable in English as he is in his home language. So this is what it feels like to be French, German or Japanese. Wow. Okay let’s move along.
R150 at Computicket. R175 at the door. At least they’re not pulling that R300-a-pop shit on us like the Mos Def and SV shows. Charge the same crowd R30 for a show with not only one but two or three good local acts on the bill and mofos squeal. You all are hypocrites, SA heads, shame on you. I ain’t even mad, I gave up a while ago. Just saying!
It’s about that time of the year again. Also worth noting, Raiko and I are putting together a mixtape for Freedom Day so look out for that. I will confirm the line up for the fest soon with yall. Oh and please note there’s a little entrance fee of R30 this year. Yes, only.
Other features on the album include Nyambz, Four Seasons, Cream Of Beats and others. Holler at sandilesi@gmail.com or damolaowolade@gmail.com to get a copy.
You already know how fussy we are about posting anything not related to the SA scene but we shouldn’t even have to tell why this is a great look for Hip Hop in general right now.
Props to Joburg’s swagger boy, the M.a double, for scooping a nomination at this year’s Metro Awards for Best Hip Hop alongside HHP, ProKid, Zuluboy and Tear Gas.
Dropping 15 October. We ain’t even gotta tell you how anticipated that B.Sharpa joint is right now on the streets from Cape Town to Polokwane and beyond.
